If you are visiting RJonWine for the first time, this page is the best introduction to the site. It gathers a selection of pieces that I think best represent the aims of this archive: close attention to the world’s most interesting wines and producers, informed by years of travel, tasting, reading, and note-taking.

The original rjonwine.com grew over time into a large body of work, and one of the goals of this new site is to restore and reorganize the strongest of those essays in a way that is easier to browse and more useful as a reference.

You may want to begin in one of these areas:

  • Great Producers — profiles and essays on estates and winemakers whose work helped define a region, a style, or a standard.
  • Great Regions — writing on the places that matter most in fine wine, from the famous to the underappreciated.
  • Grape Varieties — pieces centered on the varieties that shape the character of great wines.
  • Memorable Tastings — reports and reflections drawn from significant bottles, vertical tastings, and comparative experiences.
  • Spain — newer writing, with special attention to Spanish wines and producers.

Over time this page will continue to evolve into a true “Best of RJonWine,” bringing together the essays that still feel most alive, useful, and worth returning to.
